How to Jailbreak iphone 3G on OS 3.1.2 using PWNAGE tools on a MACINTOSH
Follow these steps:
Step 1: Create a folder on your desktop and name it "Pwnage". And download this firmware: iPhone 3G OS 3.1.2 iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw and put it in that folder.
Also download PWNAGE TOOLS and put it in the same folder.
Step 2: Double click on the Pwnage to mount it and then drag the PWNAGE tool icon to the pwnage folder
Step 3: Now from the PWNAGE folder launch the Pwnage Tool
Step 4: It will show you a warning page, just click OK
Step 5: On the mode selection page, select EXPERT MODE
Step 6: On the select iphone screen, select your iPhone Model.
Step 7: On the next screen click on the "Browse for ISPW" button and select the firmware from your PWNAGE folder and click the next button [the blue arrow].
Step 8: Now you will get a MENU with seven choices. Click on GENERAL and then click the BLUE NEXT ARROW.
Step 9: The GENERAL SETTINGS allow you to choose the partition size. Also if you're not with an OFFICIAL CARRIER supported by APPLe - Check the option that says "Activate the phone" and then click the BLUE NEXT ARROW.
Note: *Select "Activate the phone" only if you are not with an OFFICIAL APPLE CARRIER.
Note: *Make sure the Root partition is atleast 700MB.
Step 10: The BootNeuter settings are GREYED out, so just click the next arrow.
Step 11: The CYDIA settings allow you to install custom package so that you dont have to install any manually later.
We recommend you install the following packages
Double click on the package name to download it.
Step 12: Now you will see this page, do not make any changes on this page.. Just click the NEXT ARROW.
Step 13: Custom logo menu allows you to add any image of your choice as the BOOTLOADER image. This is upto your choice. Select any image of your choice or skip this and click the next button.
Note: The rules for them: RGB or Grayscale format with Alpha channel and dimension bellow 320x480...
Step 14: Now you are about to start the PWNAGE process, so keep your fingers crossed and click the BUILD TAB to check it and then click the BLUE NEXT button.
Step 15: You will now be asked to save your custom Firmware file. Save it to the same Pwnage folder that you created on your desktop.
Note: BUILDING THE ISPW FILE WILL TAKE 10 - 15 Mins.... So plz sit back and relax
Step 15: It will now ask you to enter your ADMINISTATOR password. Enter your password and press enter.
Step 16: You will now be asked if your iphone has been pwned before. Click no
Step 17: Now turn off your device and connect it using the USB
Step 18: Now it will guide you on how to put your phone in the DFU mode. Follow the instructions precisely and your phone would go into the DFU mode.
Step 19: When done correctly it will show you a POP UP that would say the following. Click OK.
ITUNES WILL ALSO POP UP ONCE YOU DO THAT
CLICK OK
Step 20: Now on the ITUNES MENU - Hold down the OPTION / ALT key and Click restore.
Browse to your custom ISPW file and click Choose
Step 21: Itunes will now restore your iphone with the custom firmware. Once done you will have a JAILBROKEN iphone with CYDIA on the springboard.
